Educational Level System

The Police Survival and Defense Institute views Tactical Defensive Education as a positive, necessary, and on-going process of professional development that changes the personal safety of every professional in views Law Enforcement, Military, and other Public Safety organizations. 

We embrace teaching as a service in which we contribute to the betterment of Public Safety, and society as a whole.  We are committed to assisting public safety professionals develop and maintain strong, consistent, physical and internal standards! The results are quantifiable, integrated, and related for the well being of our social structure.

Because of our overall mission, we have developed an educational level system.  This system is designed to help identify the professional’s commitment to enhance their personal and professional development in safety and survival.  Each level is determined by the professional’s knowledge and survival awareness as they progress through training. Their competency, training attendance, work ethic, and personal/professional character are also factors for promotion.  This tactical defensive education is comprised of three categories: Defenses, Weapons, and Ground Control/Arrest Positions.

White Shirt  (Beginning Student)
Yellow Shirt  (Beginning Student to Mid Level Student)
Orange Shirt  (Mid Level Student)
Green Shirt  (Mid Level Student to High Level Student)
Blue Shirt  (High Level Student)
Brown Shirt  (Senior Student)
Black Shirt  (1st -5th Level Instructors)
     1st Level Instructor – Apprentice
     2nd Level Instructor – Apprentice Instructor  
     3rd Level Instructor – Instructor (1 red thin line around right sleeve)
     4th Level Instructor – Senior Instructor (2 red lines around right sleeve)
     5th Level Instructor – Master Instructor (3 red lines around right sleeve)
